If eyes are the window to the soul, then sunglasses are the window treatments. Allow me to be your interior decorator for a moment.
Paris and Nicole brought back 1970s bug-eye sunglasses in a BIG way during the early aughts. The bigger the better, was the general rule for a little while there. It seems like every year since, we’ve been following suit with lesser and lesser enthusiasm. And in the mid-2000s wayfarers made a big comeback, especially in bright neon colors. They do look good on virtually everyone, but, I think it’s time for something different.
As a retro fashion enthusiast, I am quite pleased with the new sunglasses trend of summer 2011: cat-eye glasses. You can play it up with traditional studded winged tips or pay subtle homage with modern rounded edges. There are even futuristic versions of them if you want to get a little crazy. There’s a cat eye shape for every face, and it gives a girl an undeniably feminine and playful look. Balance them with red lips and a bold solid dress to complete the look. Very Mad Men. Why not pick up a classic Coca Cola bottle while you’re at it and bask in retro glory. You’ll probably need the shades to block the paparazzi flashes. Meow…

Seriously, why do you think Squints fell for Wendy Peffercorn?
